Stora Enso launches bio-based lignin as renewable replacement for oil-based phenolic materials

The launch of LineoTM by Stora Enso is another important step on the way to replacing fossil-based materials with renewable solutions. Lineo is available to companies seeking more sustainable, bio-based alternatives. Lignin is one of the main building blocks of a tree and makes up 20-30% of the composition of wood. Yet it has traditionally been discarded by the pulp and paper industries. However, Stora Enso has recognised the potential of this versatile raw material, which can be used in a range of applications where fossil-based materials are currently used.

Mark Andy makes strategic sale in Poland

In what is claimed as a significant milestone in its growing market penetration in Europe, Mark Andy has made a conquest sale to leading Polish label converter Mal-Pol, based in Olesin, some 35km east of the capital city Warsaw. The new Performance Series P5 press is the first from the American manufacturer to be installed at what has traditionally been a European press user. Speaking for Mark Andy, European Managing Director Tom Cavalco said: “This was a key sale to secure, as it breaks the grip of our competitors and highlights the added benefits that the Performance Series offers converters who are looking to diversify into more profitable market sectors.”

Ukrainian paper bag manufacturer installs its second W&H paper bag line

Ukrainian manufacturer Pamibro has been making paper bags for the construction, chemical and food industries at its factory in the western city of Broshniv for more than 20 years. Today, the company is the country’s largest paper bag manufacturer. Pamibro first invested in a W&H paper bag line in 2007 – a decision that brought great success along with it. So it’s perhaps no surprise that the manufacturer recently installed a second W&H system, comprising an AM 8125 tuber, an AD 8320 bottomer, two TRANSYSTEMS automated material flow systems and an ARCOMAT 3 palletizer.

Flint Group announces new name for partner company Eston Chimica

Eston Chimica, a leading supplier of inks and coatings to package printers in Italy and Southern Europe, announces a change in its company name and logo. Effective February 1, 2018, the new company name is Eston Chimica, a Flint Group Company. In December 2017, Flint Group, a prominent global supplier of inks and coatings to the printing and packaging industry, announced the acquisition of Eston Chimica which manufactures and sells water-based inks for flexo and gravure applications. The company supports key Paper & Board applications, such as corrugated, shopping bags, paper bags, and various other water-based print jobs.
